Are You A Team Player?

Are you the type of Christian that is a lone ranger? Do you think of yourself as a team player when it comes to living the Christian life? Do you consider yourself part of the body of Christ? (1 Corinthians 12:12) "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts, and though all it's parts are many, they form one body".
This scripture is in the middle part of chapter 12 which talks about being part of the body of Christ and using our spiritual gifts for the purpose of ministering in the body of believers. There are a lot of Christians today that are lone rangers, although most of them will not admit it or even know they are, they are living the Christian life as a single unit rather than being part of a local family or team of believers. Here are some signs of a lone ranger Christian. They expose themselves to minimal Church activity or anything that will require a commitment, they shy away from groups that have an element of accountability and intimacy. They love doing things that don't require any long time loyalty or exposure to them personally. Most of these Christians perhaps were hurt in an abusive Church or just simply grew up in a less than nurturing home where intimacy and love were not expressed freely. They struggle submitting to authority and fear connecting with others.
Another major characteristic of a lone ranger is control, they want to control their own growth, finances, relationships and even how they interpret scripture. When a Christian doesn't commit to a body in a healthy way they tend to become their own God, they are focused on themselves and become unteachable and find it hard to connect with other believers because of it. Isolation is what the Bible is trying to avoid here, we are meant to grow and live in a community or family of believers with an understanding of intimacy. We need to do whatever it takes to build each other up, encourage, admonish and become part of a committed mission. To be  part of the body means to come along side your brothers or sisters in such a way to think about them more than your own self. (Philippians 2:3+4) "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others".
Here are some healthy things we can ask, "What is the most I can do for my local Church?" "Where can I join a group or ministry where I can make a commitment to serve?" "How can I be more faithful and loyal in where I serve now?" "What can I do to help out my brothers and sisters so it will make things easier for them?" These are questions we should constantly be asking ourselves about other Christians we rub shoulders with. A lone ranger won't ask these questions because of a fear of commitment or a bad case of self centeredness which are both devastating to the body of Christ. (Proverbs 20:6) "Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?'
Being a leader myself and talking to other leaders such as Pastors, group leaders and ministry leaders, the most annoying habit of some Christians is the constant lack of being faithful and the lack of committed people to serve in the body of Christ whatever ministry it is. There are however, a remnant of true committed people that will always be devoted and do whatever it takes to be strong and committed to a mission purpose. What type of Christian are you? Are you a lone ranger who finds it hard to commit to ministry or a small group? Do you participate in the body of Christ and are faithful to that body? Do you blow off doing things for your local ministry or Church because you have something else that's more pleasing to your flesh? (Luke 10:2) Then he said to his disciples,"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few".

Today's Challenge:  Do you participate in the body of Christ with your whole heart? Are you faithful to your commitment you made when you joined a group or ministry? Are you loyal to your brothers and sisters in Christ? (3 John 1:3) "It gave me great joy to have some brothers come and tell about your faithfulness to the Truth and how you continue to walk in the Truth".

Do You Know Sound Doctrine?

How well do you know the Bible? How well do you study Bible principles and topics that make up the Word of God? Do you casually look at things in scripture and read a little here, a little there, and call yourself a knowledgeable Christian? The question I would like to ask is how important is sound doctrine to you? (2 Timothy 4:3) "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear".
Most of today's Evangelical Church is flooded with doctrine that is watered down and even aberrant. You step in the average Church in America today,  and you will hear nice flowery sermons on God's love and how much He loves you and how much He wants to heal you. The pastors usually are dynamic, articulate and like to tell stories and experiences of nice moments and tingly feelings of what they encountered with a loving God. Most of these Churches talk about Grace, Mercy, acceptance, forgiveness, and things that appeal to the flesh and our emotions. What's left out of their sermons and teachings is sound doctrine. The main concern with the average Church today on doctrine is this, let us not preach things that are too convicting of sin and let us not preach too much on holiness and what it means to live a righteous life because we don't want to scare people away. We need their money and we need their bodies to fill our pews, "nickels and numbers", as one minister several times has quoted. These are the 2 main reasons why sound doctrine is watered down in the Churches today. Most pastors and teachers today deliberately hold back the real teachings on salvation, holiness, righteousness, sin and repentance because it makes people feel uncomfortable and convicted of their sin. They would rather tickle their ears with love and kindness and hope some day they get saved by some other method. This is why most Christians are immature and wishy washy in their faith, they are not taught sound doctrine and never are able to discern Truth from error. Some are not even saved, and because everybody else around them can't discern or they are taught it's "judging" to confront error, most churchgoers are accepted as brothers or sisters in the faith and believe it's not our place to judge anyone.
I personally have been involved in Churches where I have confronted the leadership and asked questions like, "How come I never hear you preach anything on sin and repentance? Or I'll ask, "Why is it that I never hear anything on the depravity of man, unrighteousness and how to be Born-Again? They respond by saying that they don't want to sound religious or legalistic or use terms that unsaved people won't understand. Can you imagine the Apostle Paul saying that?
Some Churches do mention these things but don't explain what they really mean, they withhold true biblical teaching and water it down so it doesn't sound so convicting. Another sign of not teaching or preaching sound doctrine is they put unqualified people in positions of authority to teach because of a charismatic personality or because they are well liked in their congregation. I know of a Church that had an unsaved person running a group, and when asked why this person is in this position, the Church leadership responded, "Well he may not have it all together but his heart is in the right place". They didn't care about what the Bible says, they cared more about how they can make their Church more attractive to people. Another Church I attended had an unmarried couple greeting people and serving coffee that was living together, fornicating with each other and flaunting it with others in the Church. When I asked the pastor why he gave them this job at Church services he said,"Why not, they are not leaders and after all, they need to feel like we accept them". How disgraceful and shameful this is.
This is a major sign of the end times, people will surround themselves with teachers that tickle their ears. How about you? Do you surround yourself with people that tell you what you want to hear and know that it's really not about sound doctrine? Do you go to a Church that never preaches or teaches on how sinful we are and depraved we are? Do you attend Bible studies or Church groups that never talk about confession of personal sin, repentance and what it means to live a holy life? Can you discern sound doctrine from a teaching that sounds like it's spiritual, but has no biblical basis? God help us! (2 Timothy 2:15) NAS "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the Word of Truth".

Today's Challenge: Do you attend a certain Church because it makes you feel good? Do you shy away from accountability with other Christians? Can you discern Truth from error when it comes to sound doctrine? (Colossians 3:16) "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom ...".

How Do You Treat Trials ?

What do you do when hard times come? How do you pray when a trial hits you? Do you automatically scream for help to God in a desperate cry for Him to get you out of it ASAP? If you are teachable and willing to submit to God's will, then trials should be a time of change and spiritual growth.
Trials generally come for 2 reasons, #1. Bad decisions: When we do something to harm ourselves and rebel against God's Word we deserve a good trial. It's God's way of disciplining us to get us back on track with Him. (Proverbs 15:10) "Stern discipline awaits those who leave the path, he who hates correction will die". Examples of this is when we do something that we know is not right, but do it anyway. Drink alcohol excessively, go too fast on our motorcycles, make excuses for not growing in our faith, being a bad steward of our finances and not treating people in our lives the way we should. These are some things that we know we should do, but get caught in the trap of taking our hearts away from the things of God to please our flesh.
#2 reason for trials would be because God wants us to be more like Jesus in His character. (John 15:2) "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so it will be more fruitful". God sometimes initiates trials because He is interested in fruit, which are the things that make us more and more like Christ in His character. He wants us to learn how to love God more, love His Word more, love our brothers and sisters more, have the joy of the Lord in our lives, peace, long suffering, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness. Those of you who have been walking with the Lord for a while can see that God is constantly working with us to mold and shape our character, and sometimes the trials are very difficult but rewarding in the end.
(James 1:2-4) "Consider it a pure joy, my brothers, when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything". What's the goal here? Trials produce perseverance, which produces maturity. God is much more interested in our spiritual growth and character than He is our comfort. I used to pray like this, God please get me out of this mess, please deliver me from my pain, please heal me of everything that hurts. There is nothing wrong with this type of prayer, but if your only looking to escape pain and suffering, then you are praying incorrectly and with the wrong motive. How should we pray, how about this? Lord teach me what I need to learn from this trial, Lord reveal to me if I'm in denial of something I can't see, Lord do I have pride and think I have all the answers? Do you see the difference, one prayer wants to just escape the pain of trials when the other seeks to be humble and learn from the Holy Spirit how to become more mature and more like Jesus. (Psalm 119:71) "It was good that I was afflicted so I could learn your decrees".

Today's Challenge: How do you pray when a trial comes? Do you even pray at all? Do you seek to mature in Christ, if you do, how are you doing it?
(Hebrews 12:11) "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it".

Post Rapture Survival Guide

How Do People Get Saved?

Have you ever asked the question, how do unsaved people get saved? Does God choose them only? Do they come to Christ only when we witness to them? What about people in the jungles of Africa who have never heard the Gospel? There have been arguments on both sides of the coin concerning this subject but let's see what the Bible says.

According to (Romans 1:20) "... people are without excuse". No one will go to the judgment and have the right to say, "I didn't know". All people are accountable to God, even if they haven't heard the Gospel or been exposed to a Christian Church. God, in His way, will judge everyone according to what He sees fit to determine who goes to Heaven or Hell. Our job as Christians is to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19+20) "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them into the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you ...".  This means it's our responsibility to witness and share our faith to the lost world and then disciple them for the Kingdom of God. Basically, we have a responsibility to do, and God has His responsibility, and ultimately He determines who gets saved because He is the final authority. Sound good so far?
Unsaved people get saved when they know #1. They are sinners. (Romans 3:23) " For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God ..". A huge mistake with most Churches today is they have the "God loves you no matter what" mentality and leave out the sin part. I have attended many Churches and have heard many preachers and Pastors say this,"God loves you", "God wants you to enjoy Him", "Just believe in Jesus","Come to Him and be saved", "Allow God to heal you". Do you hear anything about sin in these statements? People first need to understand that sin has blocked a true relationship with God. Every believer, when witnessing, must address the sin issue because that is what they need to be saved from. Without the teaching and preaching of sin, it produces professing Christians only in name that are deceived and are going to Hell.
#2. Repentance. A person must decide to turn away from their sin and turn toward God. (Acts 3:19) "Repent, then, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out...". This is where the rubber meets the road, when a person turns away from their sin and decides to follow Christ, then they are in the right position for salvation. At this point change takes place and the Bible becomes a priority and learning about God starts.
#3. Making Jesus the Lord of your life. (Romans 10: 9+10) "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved". A person is truly saved when they make Jesus the Lord of their life, which means they no longer follow the ways of their past and begin a new journey with God's Word being a guiding light. They must also believe that Jesus death on the cross was the atoning sacrifice for their own personal sin. The evidence of salvation is a changed life that shows true Holy Spirit fruit. (2 Corinthians 5:17) "Therefore, if any man be in Christ he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come".
Here's the bottom line, God is the one who saves unsaved people, but it's up to us to witness and share the Gospel message correctly to them.  Are you saved?

Today's Challenge: Do you mention sin when witnessing for Christ? Do you talk about how the cross is the main reason for salvation? Are you afraid to tell people you've been born-again? (John 15:16) "(Jesus said) You did not choose me, I chose you ...".

What Are Your Goals For 2010?

Here we are, 2010, a new year awaits us as 2009 is just a fading memory. What do you want to do this year? What are your goals for the motorcycle ministry? What is your vision for 2010? (Proverbs 29:18) KJV "Where there is no vision, the people perish ... ". I guess the question I want to ask is, what goals are you going to set for yourself this year? For instance, how many Rallies do you plan to attend? How am I going to minister better this year at Bike Blessings? How can I grow more this year to be more fruitful in my service to God?

A big way to be more successful for God this year is to set goals and have a vision for this year's motorcycle ministry. A lot of bikers turn off the ministry switch for the winter and consider it a time to kick back for next year and don't do anything. Although all Christians, from time to time, need rejuicing by resting and taking some time off, Christians should always be looking ahead to the future for upcoming events and opportunities. Without a clear vision of what your goals are, you will stumble and be unorganized. In my own Motorcycle Chapter we have a packed schedule of learning video's to watch, a major Motorcycle show to attend and do ministry at, officer training days, "Motorcycle kick off" weekend and 2 major Bike Blessings all before the month of May. I know it's only January but we need to start laying the ground work by preparing our hearts and minds now before the craziness of Spring.
Being ready, however, is only half the equation, being passionate and enthusiastic is the other half. We need to be fired up for Jesus. We need to be so joyful, Spirit filled and hungry to minister that it rubs off on all your brothers and sisters that will be serving with you. Having a solid relationship with Jesus is the key, at all times, and that's the foundation of everything we do, and being fired up and passionate for ministry is essential. Have you ever gone to a Biker event to see Christian bikers complaining, grumbling, gossiping and socializing with each other, when on the other hand they could be passing out tracts, Bibles, water, and other things to start conversation with unbelievers. There is a difference, one Christian just wants to hang out and be social, the other one wants to witness and share their faith. One is in the flesh, the other is being filled with the Holy Spirit serving Christ with everything they have in them. (1 Corinthians 15:58) "...let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord ..." . When we are not passionate about serving Christ and are unmotivated, it is just going to bring people down and make others uninterested.
What will you do this winter to get ready for 2010? Will you book some major events? Will you participate in Bike Blessings this Spring to share the Gospel message? Or will you just go along for the ride and watch others serve Christ? (Romans 12:11) "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord".  According to this scripture, we are never to be lacking the zeal and passion to serve Christ. How about you, have you set goals for this 2010 season? Are you fired up and passionate about sharing the gospel message to unsaved Bikers this riding season?

Today's Challenge: Do you have a vision and have set goals for 2010? Does your life show that you are passionate about the things of God? What can you do to get fired up for Jesus this new year? (Philippians 4:13) "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength".

How Much Of Your Heart Does Jesus Have ?

How much of your heart does Jesus have? How much do you let Jesus in your most secret place? How much do you allow Jesus into your thoughts? Is there any part of your heart you are keeping a secret? (Psalm 62:8) "Trust in Him at all times, O people, pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge". These are questions every Christian need to ask themselves. In this psalm God is wanting us to do 2 things, trust Him and pour out your heart to Him.
How do you know if you are doing these 2 things? Let's first see if we are trusting God, do you wait for God to answer prayer instead of going ahead of Him and do something stupid? Are you content with what God says in His Word about finances, relationships, marriage, work and even Church? Trusting in God means no matter what the circumstance you are in, you are going to obey His Word. A great example of what not to do is what Abraham and Sarah decided to do about getting a son with Hagar instead of trusting God and waiting for Sarah to conceive with a child. (Genesis 16:2) "So she said to Abram,"The Lord has kept me from having children. Go sleep with my maidservant, perhaps I can build my family through her". Abraham and his wife wanted a son so bad he conceived a child from his slave Hagar. A terrible act of disobedience that cost Abraham, because he didn't trust God to wait. Aren't we like that sometimes, we pray about something and then we take control of the situation before God has a chance to finish what we asked Him to do. God still loves His people, but when we don't trust Him there are consequences and setbacks.
How about pouring out your heart to Him? Do you let God in on all your secrets? Are you honest with Him when you pray? Do you confess "all" your thoughts and frustrations with Jesus? On the other hand, do we passionately seek God's will for things that please Him and His Kingdom? Pouring out your heart to God means just that, you hold nothing back. I heard a preacher one time say something about this subject that I never forgot, he said there are some Christians that just add Jesus to their lives and then there are some who make Jesus their life. Do you see the difference, does God have every aspect of your personal life? Do you sometimes forget the profession of making Jesus Lord? Do we sometimes act like the world because it simply feels good, and what the heck, everybody else is doing it anyway.
A Christian that pours out his heart to God is a Christian who unashamedly and openly agrees with God's plan and goal of what glorifies Him. Here are some of those things; witnessing, learning scripture better, improving our character to become more like Jesus, being accountable and pursuing intimacy with fellow believers, confessing sin and weakness in our lives and praying with all these things in mind in the Holy Spirit. Anything short of these things and your just going through the proverbial motions of lukewarmness and complacency. Can you see what God wants from us? He wants all of us, our emotions, attitudes, feelings, shortcomings, weaknesses, strengths and mind. This is a question that I challenge myself with every day, do I yield everything in my life to God every moment of every day? God is my refuge only if I obey Him with all my heart, not part of my heart. That's where the real will of God is found.

Today's Challenge: Is there any secret your not letting God know about? Since God already knows everything about you, why don't you let Him in on it? How much do you pour out your heart to God? (Luke 14:33) "In the same way, (Jesus said) any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple".

Are You Praying For The lost ?

If you have lost loved ones, your heart is broken for them. I have lost family members, relatives, and friends that I will see this Christmas that are convinced Jesus Christ is not important and only look to him as a Santa Claus when they need something or as a religious activity because of their traditional upbringing. They are going to hell destined to be put to shame and disgrace by the cunning deceitfulness of Satan, unless God intervenes. My question to you is, knowing that they could perish at any time, do you earnestly seek God in prayer for their salvation? Do you intercede for them and persist in prayer diligently seeking to move God to melt their heart? Do you set aside private, undisturbed time where you devote your intercession to them? Do you meet corporately as well with other believers to pray?
(1 Timothy 2:4) "This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the Truth". I would like to key on 2 things, God's heart for unbelievers and diligence in prayer for them. We first need to understand that God wants all people to be saved, and it's our job to witness and show unbelievers through our own salvation that God really exists and wants "all" people to "know" Him and become born-again. (Acts 1:8) "You shall be my witnesses ... . (1 Peter 3:15) "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have". (2 Peter 3:9) "He is patient with you, not wanting "anyone" to perish, but "everyone" to come to repentance". We are to live our lives in such a way that we are a living testimony to God's grace and mercy. I know some people that got saved because they saw a Godly sincere life style that showed love and honesty. We can be an open book to the people God has put in our path if we choose to do so. Do people know that there is something different about you? Do you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in every day activities that call for divine appointments? Do you sometimes initiate conversation about God and the Bible? God's heart is that we do everything we can to bring the lost into a growing relationship with Him by the scriptures.
The second thing we need to understand is that prayer for the lost is one of the most powerful weapons we have to use. Praying moves the hand of God, it fulfills His will, it scatters the evil forces of Satan, it is obedience to His Word that says this, (2 Chronicles 7:14) "If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and will heal their land". Do you see that prayer needs to be coupled with humility, perseverance and confession of sin. When I look at my own life and see things that are not right, I take a spiritual time out to confess sin and get right with God or another person I've mistreated, then God moves in ways that will be right and in His will. So many Christians today struggle with this principle because of worldliness and lack of passion in our relationship with Jesus. He wants us to pursue holiness and perseverance, and that is what moves the hand of God. (James 5:16b) KJV "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much".

Today's Challenge: Does your heart break for the lost? Do you pray for them to be saved? Does your life show people that you are humble and Christ-like in your attitude and behavior as a Christian? (Matthew 5:16) "...let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven".

How Would You Evaluate 2009 ?

Here we are in December, Thanksgiving Day has come, Christmas is only a few weeks away, the riding season is over, most bikers have put fuel stabilizer in their tanks and have put away their bikes for the Winter. The few brave bikers will continue to ride this winter regardless how cold. As I take a deep breath and look back at the past Spring, Summer and Fall, the question I have for you is this, how would you evaluate yourself in the 2009 riding season? If you are a Christian biker, or a Christian in general for that matter, how would you say you served Christ this year? This was the question I asked myself, was there room for improvement, did I learn and grow from prayer and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, did I make mistakes that I learned from, did God show me things that were out of my comfort zone, did I make the most of every opportunity God gave me with the time I had?

(1 Corinthians 15:58) "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain". The Christian life is never stagnant, we never stop learning and growing. We never stop serving Him. We are always being challenged to go higher and deeper with Jesus because that's His design for every believer. Have you ever seen a Christian that never grows and learns? Have you ever seen Christians that never witness for the Lord, never give their testimony or share the Gospel message with anyone? Have you seen Christians that never work on their character and moral issues? Have you ever heard Christians give a million excuses for not serving the Lord but these same Christians have plenty of time for hobbies or other things that only satisfy the flesh?

This scripture first tells us to "stand firm", what in the world does stand firm mean, stand firm in what? Standing firm means to be consistent and assured in what you believe about Jesus, not to waiver by giving in to the world's view of things and not giving in to unsaved people's sins and habits. "Let nothing move you" means don't be persuaded by unbelievers because they are not serving the Lord Jesus, they are serving themselves and Satan. You cannot be a good witness and testimony to them if you join in on their worldly thinking and behavior. "Give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord" means to focus and concentrate on the Lord's will and commands first before prioritizing other things. (Mat. 6:33)"Seek first the Kingdom of God ...". Hobbies that take the place of serving, self-centered activities, laziness, isolation, workaholism and just plain rebelliousness are things that feed the flesh and keep us from doing the Lords work. There is no such thing as a Christian that does not have a particular calling or work of service for the Lord. It is unbiblical for someone to say that they are just a "regular" Christian and have no work or service for God. Lastly, in this 15th chapter of 1 Corinthians, the hope of the resurrection makes all the efforts and sacrifices in the Lord's work worth it. No work done in His name is wasted in light of eternal glory and reward. It is the Lord's will for us as Christians to devote ourselves fully to the work of the Lord because that is what really counts, everything else will count for nothing when it comes to eternity.

Was 2009 a year of fruitful service to God? I asked myself these questions, did I give Jesus my best in serving Him? Did I work on my character and morals to become more like Jesus? Can I honestly say I love Jesus so much that I  was willing to sacrifice my time, energy and resources for Him? (Psalm 112:1) "Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands".

Today's Challenge: How have you evaluated yourself in 2009? Do you tend to blow it off as just another year, or do you look at it as another year to joyfully and faithfully serve Christ for His glory? Is there room for spiritual growth in the Word and improvement in your character traits? (Nehemiah 8:10) "The joy of the Lord is my strength"
